Cardan Conveyor System

General Features

 

Cardan type conveyors are based on the system of moving the cardan chain within guiding rails along the x, y, and z axes.

Cardan chains are produced in a total of 400mm lengths, with 180mm in the carrying female links and 220mm in the guiding male links. Therefore, the axis spacing between the hangers is suitable for use in multiples of 400mm.

However, in unavoidable situations, special types of hanger parts can be attached to the male links, allowing the axis spacing between the hangers to be reduced to 200mm and its multiples.

Each 400 mm length has 4 carrying and 4 guiding bearings.

The bearings are specially designed to operate at 200°C and are of the type with ball bearings (without casing and cover).

Standard rails are produced in 3 m lengths.

Two opposing rails are connected to each other with flanges at a maximum distance of 500 mm.

Standard inspection rails are also 3 m long, and the removable part is 500 mm long from one side.

The drive groups are of the top caterpillar type and operate by the system where the pushing claws mounted between two opposing caterpillar chains give motion to the cardan chain.

The torque limiter used in the drive groups is designed to protect both the conveyor and the transported materials, as well as other units on the circulation plan (layout) in cases of jamming and overloads.

The central lubrication units are designed to lubricate all bearings on the horizontal and vertical axes in one rotation of the cardan chain.

  • The bearings used in the cardan chain have a diameter of 45mm, chain plates are 30mm wide and 6mm thick.

  • The rail profiles are 4mm thick, and the joining flanges are 6mm thick.

  • The maximum carrying capacity is 100kg per hanger.

  • The motor reducer used in the drive group has a power of 1.5 kw (2 HP).

  • The torque limiter used can be adjusted up to a maximum of 1130 Nm torque.

  • In horizontal turns made within the rail, a minimum radius of 500 mm and a maximum of 2,500 mm can be selected.

  • In cases where smaller dimensions are required, pulley-type horizontal turns should be used.

  • In vertical turns, the radius measurements range from 500 – 2,500 mm.
