Description

Flash Steam Heat Recovery System

GENERAL FEATURES

  • Heat recovery from flash steam escaping from the condensate tank in steam production facilities with an open condensate system;
  • Steam produced at a certain operating pressure from the boiler condenses at the usage point by leaving its latent heat and comes to the condensate line in contact with the atmosphere (open air) through the condensate trap.
  • Due to pressure drop, some of the water formed as a result of condensation evaporates again (flash steam) and the water-steam mixture comes to the condensate tank from the condensate line. While the water fills the condensate tank, the steam escapes to the atmosphere through the vent pipe of the condensate tank.
  • If the condensate traps are incorrectly selected or faulty, these leaks increase. In many facilities using steam, the white steam cloud rising from the side of the boiler room is an indicator of this event and is perceived as if it were a natural occurrence.
  • If no precautions are taken, 10%…15% of the condensate water returning to the condensate tank escapes into the air as flash steam.
