Overview

This product supports IEEE802.3 10 Base-T standard / IEEE 802.3u 100Base-TX/FX standard / IEEE 802.3z 1000Base-TX/FX standard. It can also operate in full-duplex and half-duplex modes.

Installation

1. Interface

• RJ-45 interface:
  It uses CAT5 twisted pair cable as transmission medium, with a typical length of 100 meters. It has the feature to automatically detect straight-through or cross-over cable.

• Fiber interface (SC/ST):
  It is in duplex type, with two connection points, TX and RX. When two optical transceivers are connected to each other or connected to a fiber switch, the fiber is connected in a cross pattern: “TX-RX”, “RX-TX” (straight end-to-end connection for single-mode optical fiber).

2. Connection

• A network device with RJ-45 interface (workstation, hub or switch) is connected to the RJ-45 input of the optical converter via twisted pair cable.

• Multi-mode or single-mode fiber is connected to the SC/ST fiber interface of the optical converter.

• When power is applied and the correct connection is made, the relevant LED lights up. (Refer to the table for LED indicators.)
