Solid Fuel Steam Boiler
In this system, the solid fuel taken from the bunker is fed to the furnace from below the grate via a screw conveyor and burned. Fuels such as coal, wood pieces, wood shavings and dust, sunflower husk, olive pits, cotton waste (double), hazelnut shells, and similar solid fuels are burned, not exceeding a size of 50 mm.
The efficiency of steam boilers equipped with this system is a minimum of 75%. If desired, they can be quickly converted to burn natural gas and liquid fuel. If desired, these boilers can be manufactured to burn both solid and liquid/gas fuels. In these systems, which are commonly used in industry, processes such as ash removal and the packing of burning fuel must be performed. For these processes, the furnace door must be opened. In this case, the cold air entering the furnace negatively affects the combustion regime.
Additionally, satisfactory results cannot be obtained in burning low melting point coals and powdered coals in these systems. Considering these and similar disadvantages, it is beneficial to prefer Fixed Ladder Grate, Forward Pushing Ladder Grate, or Pneumatic burning systems in large capacity systems.
Note: In the screw stoker produced by our company, specially designed tilting grates are used for ash dumping during coal burning.
